Protection Jar

Protection Jar
Step By Step As Well As Suggestions For Intention
Things To Know
Prep To Make A Jar.
Do your research
Jar: What jar do you want to use? I honestly go to the dollar store and buy a four-pack of cheap baby mason jars to host my spells. Anything that can be sealed is perfectly fine.
Herbs: What herbs do you want to use? There are many with specific properties to assist in your spell work. If you want this to lean more in a specific direction with your intention, use herbs that will assist your work. (I have a document with various herbs and their properties)
You can add many things to your spell jars along with your herbs. Treat those as the foundation of your spell work; additions are the pillars.
Such things can be sigils, dried flowers, written words, and crystals.
Spell Work: Understand that your spell work comes from your intention. Just making a jar of herbs and random things isn’t the spell itself, it's the groundwork for what you are doing. You can put seeds into the ground but still have to water them and show them love.
Sigil Work: If you wish to add a roof to your spell work, toss a sigil into the jar. This can be written on paper or a bay leaf. This can be one you find, or you create yourself. (Self-created sigil work will be discussed in a separate document)
Candle: You will need a candle for most spell work you do. I use white or black candles for my protection work. Colored candles are used for specific spells coordinating with a specific color.
Moon Phases: Moon phases will maximize or hinder your spell work. Pay attention to the moon phases and do your desired spell accordingly.
Prep Before Spell Work Begins!
Place all of your tools in front of you. Before you get to work, you want to set up your area and prepare for the work ahead. There isn’t a time limit, but take your time so that your intentions are fed into everything you touch as you work.
Speaking of touch, your hands are the most powerful thing when doing spell work! Touch everything! You need to get your hands dirty. Use your hands to grab the herbs and/or flowers, pushing your intentions into every piece as you set them into the jar. No, this does not mean placing them in a piece at a time.
Alright, back to the beginning. Everything should be set up in front of you. Once you have gathered everything, it is time to get to work!
Create a circle around yourself and cover the space you are working in. This can involve lighting incense and cleansing your space, envisioning a light protecting your space while you work, or drawing in the elements/directions to assist in your own protection. (Elemental work will be explained in a separate document.) Do what feels right to you.
You will also need to cleanse the jar before putting anything into it. Light an incense stick and swirl it around on the inside of the “jar.” You can do this a few times, but you don’t have to let it burn in there—just enough to give it a cleanse. I will put the lid on afterward and leave it alone for a few minutes while I prep further.
Alright, Witch, It’s Time!
Cleanse and prep are done, and you are ready to make your first protection jar.
Put them in first if you have heavier items, i.e., crystals, from your pillars.
You may begin putting your chosen herbs into the jar. Put as much as you deem fit. Remember to get your hands dirty! If you have the herbs in bags, pour them in your hand and observe them, play with them, thinking of your intention before and while you put them in your jar.
If you have any dried flowers or plants, you may place them next. Follow the above suggestion for each step.
Add in your written words or sigils. Anything you deem fit to add additional assistance to your spell.
Once you have everything placed inside the jar, the most important step is next.
Light a candle, which you will use next. While it begins to burn, meditate while holding your jar. This can be for a few minutes, but remember you do have a candle burning. While you meditate, remember your intention, focus on it, and send it into the jar. Imagine pushing it in and enveloping the jar with your intention. Focus. Continue for as long as you need.
Once done, place your jar back down. You will now let your candle drip onto the lid. You can set it on top of the lid and let it burn out or hold it and let it drip over if you plan on using the candle again. You want to cover the lid and let the wax cover the seal as well, sealing the intentions into the jar.
Congratulations, you have made your first protection jar. If you want it to work in your room or another room, place it somewhere where it won’t be messed with. If you want it to work throughout your home, put it by your front door or bury it somewhere in your yard. Place it under your bed if you want it to work in your dreams.
Good job, baby witch, you’ve done your first spell jar!
